Today O2 Germany announced through their twitter that they have given the thumbs up to a pair of new device ROMs for their Motorola Milestone and Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 devices. No official word has come from either manufacturer about said updates, but O2 has confirmed that neither update will be to a new version of Android OS.
No, instead of Android 2.2 the Milestone will see a collection of fixes for the alarm, music player, and a random device power on bug. No more info was revealed about the Xperia update other than it won’t be Android 2.1. The updates are expected to roll out within the next 14 days, and there is no word as of yet whether other carriers will also receive the fixes.

This sucks, I feel so sorry for my brother, who bought the X10 after a conversation with a drunk guy :P.
sounds like the update sony-eri said was coming in the summer last month. they also made it clear then that while there would be some bug fixes the 2.1 version wasnt coming until the end of the year. the xperia already has its own interface which makes the 1.6 like 2.1 apps wise, so no big deal in it being a stable and working platform until then. who cares if it doesnt have pinch or run 2.2 the android site says 2.1 and 2.2 were only minor updates anyway
@danny
if u consider the 2.2 update minor…what with the speed increase, flash 10.1, pinching and all the other glorious fixes
@danny
minor update? see the features of 2.2 if it’s a minor update.
