Dell Aero Gains FCC Approval Just In Time For Q2 Launch

The Dell Aero had already gotten a tentative release date alongside its bigger tablet brothers: its landing date was originally believed to be June 2010 for AT&T. Now, the device has been approved by the FCC just in time to meet that unofficial deadline. Its name has been confirmed to be the Aero by the marketing name field from the FCC report, with other confirmed specs being Wifi 802.11 b/g, BlueTooth, and UMTS 850/1900.

We expect the Aero to launch with Android 1.5 (bummer, yes, but there are plans to update the phone to 2.1 by the end of the year). It also has a 3.5-inch touchscreen and a 624mhz Marvell processor. I’d be hard pressed to get excited for this phone knowing Dell has so much more (and better) to come shortly after it launches. What about you?
