Motorola MT820 Makes Another Appearance

11

Last week, we got our first look at a new Motorola phone which brought us a flip phone form factor: a first for any Android device. Another set of pictures have come together, though, but the hardware is slightly different from what we remember. For starters, the home button has been moved to the bottom and implemented as a hardware button, while the Menu and Back buttons remain as touch sensitive options on the left and right, respectively.

Chinese site HiAPK leaked the photos and the phone will support China’s TD-SCDMA 3G network. That leaves 1 of 2 different possibilities: the earlier phone was a prototype or it was a version for other regions. The MT820 looks pretty nice compared to its counterpart, in my opinion, so I hope it’s similarly designed for other regions, as well. What do you guys think? The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. I really do why they would code name this the
Ming because in british that means dirty lol

  2. *really do wonder why

  3. The “Ming” is what they called the old device…maybe 4 years ago..that was a clear flip phone with a touch screen, similar to an old handspring visor.

  4. In China, where the phone is currently slated to go. Ming translates to Enlightenment and is also a very common name.

  5. Can you give more details on what wireless carriers this device will be available for.

  6. It’s a picture of a phone. Nice enough looking, but it might as well be a nice looking paperweight for all we know about it. Nothing to see here, move along…

  7. @Ross if we said that about all pictures of unannounced phones, then noone would ever post anything until the carriers and manufacturers told us to. speculation is never a bad thing.

  8. @Quentyn, speculation isn’t a bad thing when you’re sitting around the table at a burger joint chatting with your friends. When you’re trying to present information useful to the android community, you give us the facts or you don’t give us anything. Readers don’t always know when you’re giving reliable information or making it up, and I’ve see far too much flat out inaccurate information posted lately to not know what to believe anymore. When enough readers don’t trust what the read here, they’ll look to reliable sources. You’re shooting yourselves in the foot with this high school journalism. Be professionals.
