By The results are in and Droid Does by KC Green akaYouTube user Shesellssheshells has won the Phandroid Funny Video Contest and with it a Nexus One. Here is the winning video:
The runners up were:
- 2nd place ($75 Amazon Gift Card) – Dr. Droid
- 3rd place ($25 Amazon Gift Card) – Google Goggles
Winners should send a YOUTUBE message (using the account that uploaded their video) to the Phandroid YouTube account including their name, physical address, and E-Mail address.
I checked the votes often and it was neck and neck the entire time. The “Hitler” video that makes fun of Phandroid pulled out to an early lead and then for quite awhile Google Goggles had the advantage, but in the long run it was Droid Does and Dr. Droid battling it out for first place and the former had just barely enough to edge the Doc. Here are the results bar-graph style:

@nuklearswan, just keep telling yourself that sizes are “pretty much the same”. It’ll make you feel better. Now, as to how I got the votes. The contest is over so I’ll fess up. I have a lot of friends/classmates (around 170 or so), almost all of which are now phandroid addicts. We came up with a plan to vote between the hours of 7-10 pm (pacific) on the weekend to have a slow but sure climb to the top. It was going really well until the last 10 min of the voting when Droid Does got 41 votes in 10 minutes. I would like him to explain how. I was cheap, maybe, but totally legit. And the purpose of the contest was served, phandroid.com is now a mainstay in about 1/2 of my friends websurfing. Really fun contest. I want to know how I didn’t win. Great job Rob and Phases, on a lot of things. One day I’ll get an android device and rock the snot out of the forums.”

Do you really want to reward Dr. Droid because he has lots of friends? Crap! I should’ve sent my video to everyone at my middle school and gotten hundreds of votes myself! I just thought that would be cheating, but i guess instead i ended up being too honest and losing a nexus one… Just great… Why didn’t you tell us we could send our videos to our friends to vote? This contest is unfair and stupid!

Funny. It was our 600 or 800 bucks worth of prizes to give away, which we didn’t have to do. I could think of plenty of things we could have done for ourselves instead, ya know. Ah well! Sorry to those that didn’t have fun and instead focused on how “unfair” or how.. not perfect.. things went. We had fun anyway. :) Was a crap-ton of footage to watch though! heh.
that…. wasn’t really that funny. and the guy acting seemed extremely awkward. congrats to him, but i didn’t like it.
The contest could have been rigged, but the point of it was to drive readers to Phandroid.

The fact that Droid Does drove 3x views, and probably some portion of that to Phandroid.com is the goal of the contest. It was vulgar but funny, and featured the Droid.
To be honest, I didn’t make it into the Hitler video too far. Been there, done that. Nothing at all original about captioning that clip.
Dr. Droid featured the droid but was 4 minutes long. I’ve got the attention span of… oh yeah, just about everyone else on the net. Didn’t make it to the end.
Google Goggles was short, funny, but what does it have to do with the Droid? Good news is that you can enter that video in an anti-Apple contest.
I loved the Unlucky Shot – it was filmed very well and it was very interesting to watch. Probably the best video of the 5 (w/ Droid Does 2nd) but not relevant to Droid.
