Samsung i7500 Gets YouTubed, Goes Private

7

The Samsung i7500 went from rumor to official to getting its own demo videos on YouTube pretty darn quick! A YouTuber put up some footage of Samsung’s first Android Phone, the Samsung i7500, online for your viewing pleasure. But apparently the user didn’t want his 15-minutes of fame, probably for fear of NDA violation and/or job termination, and the video was quickly made private after hitting EngadgetMobile.

UPDATE (thanks for the new link, Alex!):

If we can recover another version of the video or another Samsung i7500 video we’ll put it up ASAP but for now, you’ll have to settle for a couple screenshots from it:

I know, those aren’t exactly “screenshots” but are the YouTube video thumbnails. If it was up to me we would be watching the whole video so, cut me some slack here. EngadgetMobile got a screenshot:

In the middle thumbnail above it is interesting to point out that the screen is illuminating the man’s hand who is holding the Samsung i7500. And he appears to be in a well lit room. Seem awkward? Delighfully so – that is the power and brightness of Samsung’s AMOLED screen. Pretty glorious, eh?

Some other specs the Samsung i7500 will include:

  • 5Mpx camera with LED flash
  • Quad-Band GSM
  • Tri-Band 7.2Mbps HSDPA (900/1700/2100MHZ)
  • 320 x 480 pixel 3.2″ AMOLED Screen
  • WiFi
  • GPS
  • 1,500mAh battery
  • 8GB Internal Storage
  • MicroSD
  • 3.5mm Headset Jack

  1. Finally an Android phone that looks like it’s actually going to be released that doesn’t have a curved bit at the bottom of the phone like the G1, Magic and Hero (HTC…what are you thinking??).

This phone looks really good. I was hoping for a high resolution screen but this is definitely going to be my next phone. It would be so much better if the phone had a much cleaner look on the front fascia (i.e. smaller buttons and bigger screen).

Can’t wait for the release of this!

  2. Any bluetooth capability? That’s a *must have* for me.

  3. Why doesn’t he use the touchscreen in the video, besides of taping it once or twice? Is it too bad to be demonstrated, or isn’t that a final version of the phone?

But whatsoever… that thing looks sweet! Finally there is an android device with the high-quality-standard of a Samsung phone.

  4. Looks awesome! Time to sell the ugly G1. ;) Thanks Alex for posting the vid link!

Yes it does seem a little weird that he didn’t use the touch screen but it seems likely that this is due to it not being a final version. If it was final then they will be bringing this to market now instead of a few months from now.

It seems to cope well without a trackball.

  6. I WANT IT!….. but with a keyboard. :( oo oo oo and multitouch! :)
