Google told us about a cool new shortcut for launching the camera on the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P — double tap the power button. Simple, intuitive and quick. But did you know there’s a second way to quickly launch the camera app on those phones?
We learned as much from a lucky gent who had extended playing time with a near-final retail unit at Google’s India launch event for the Nexus phones (see unboxings from the shindig here). It’s a double-twist of the wrist gesture, not unlike what we’ve seen from Motorola’s phones in recent years. A jog through the settings menu shows the option, though it’s quickly glossed over.
It’s a pretty neat gesture, and if it’s anything like Motorola’s phones it should work well enough to have as an alternate quick launch option if you find it hard to double tap the power button for whatever reason. Now the only issue is actually getting the phones to try it out for ourselves, which hopefully won’t take long.
