Motorola DROID Turbo 2 gains global certification as release inches near

0

As we approach the end of 2015, most big name flagships have already been released and/or announced. But there’s still a few good Android devices left waiting in the wings. Take the Motorola Droid Turbo 2 for example, which will be the best handset Motorola will release this year and it’s reserved exclusively for Verizon Wireless.

Galaxy S25 Ultra deal

With hardware topping even the Motorola Moto X Pure Edition/Style, the Droid Turbo 2 will get only the best Motorola can muster up. As it stands, the phone is rumored to come equipped with wireless charging, a beefy 3,760mAh battery, and a nearly unbreakable display. We’ve seen enough of the device in recent weeks to know the Droid Turbo 2 is a real thing, and like most of Verizon’s 4G LTE smartphones, will come GSM unlocked for global networks.

Just like that, a Motorola device carrying the model number XT1585 gained its global certification. It’s the same model we’ve seen pop up months ago as a device codenamed Kinzie. Check out the global bands including CDMA for use on Verizon. Really, there’s nothing here we didn’t already know, but if nothing else, it’s more or less a hint that the phone’s launch is just around the corner.

According to our sources, we’re expecting Verizon/Motorola to finally make the phone official next Thursday, October 15th with a release on the 29th, possibly alongside its little sibling the Motorola Droid Maxx 2 (Verizon variant of the Moto X Play). It’s also been said that the Droid Turbo 2 could arrive in other markets as the Motorola Moto X Force, but exactly which countries remains to be seen.
