Rumors already told of an October 2nd release date for the Samsung Gear S2 and Samsung Gear S2 Classic, and now Samsung has come forth with an announcement of their own. They’ve confirmed that the smart watches will be available on that day from a variety of retailers.
You’ll be able to buy one at Samsung.com, Amazon.com, Best Buy and Macy’s. The Gear S2 comes in at $299.99, while the classier Gear S2 Classic comes in at just $50 more.
These are the first round smart watches by the folks at Samsung, but that alone isn’t the only reason to take notice. They still run Tizen, but the smart watches can now be used with most Android phones on the market, and not just their own wares.
And Tizen isn’t bad at all, these days. There are tons of apps, it’s smooth and stable, and it’s easy on the battery. It also supports the cool rotary dial bezel Samsung introduced. You can find out more in our hands-on, and get your pennies together in time for its October 2nd launch if you decide you want one.
