Dimensions from upcoming LG and Huawei Nexus revealed in new leak

Nexus 5 no hands

While nothing has been made official, it’s beginning to look like Google could be preparing not one, but two Nexus devices this year — one from LG, and another from Huawei. We’re definitely cool with that, as the LG model is rumored to have a smaller form factor, something quite frankly amiss in flagship Android devices as of late.

As we approach their impending release (which typically occurs around late October), we’re beginning to see more rumors and leaks of these devices around the net. New tipster on the block @OnLeaks — who has a pretty reliable track record when it comes to rumors — may have gotten word on a few hardware details on these 2 Nexuses. Devices.

According to recent tweets, the LG Nexus could have a metal body (something that sounds odd coming from LG), 5.2-inch display, front facing speakers, fingerprint sensor (rear), and USB Type C port. Huawei is much of the same, with a metal body, but a larger 5.7-inch display, front facing speakers, fingerprint sensor (rear), and USB Type C. He even revealed their potential dimensions, which are as follows:

  • LG Nexus: 146.9 x 72.9 x 8/9.8 mm
  • Huawei Nexus: 159.4 x 78.3 x 6.6/8.5 mm

And for reference…

  • Nexus 5 (2013): 137.84 x 69.17 x 8.59 mm

At 9.8mm, the LG Nexus appears to be a little thicker than the Nexus 5 from 2013 (8.59mm). We’re hoping that the increase in size means a sizable battery to match, but it’s possible the fingerprint scanner coupled with wireless charging is responsible for the added bulk. We’ll still not sure what to expect, but with yet further confirmation that a more reasonably sized Nexus is in the works, we’re hoping for the best.
