Motorola Moto G Preorder amazon

Should you find yourself with a few Amazon gift cards this holiday, and have been eyeballing the super affordable Motorola Moto G, good news. The device has just popped up on Amazon, where it is currently available for pre-order. A very capable entry-level Android smartphone, $180 will snag you the 8GB model, while the 16GB goes for $200 (same price as direct from Motorola).

Moto G quick specs:

  • Quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor (1.2GHz), Adreno 305 GPU (450MHz)
  • 4.5-inch 720p display
  • 5MP/1.3MP cameras
  • 2,070mAh battery
  • 50GB free Google Drive storage
  • micro SIM slot
  • AT&T HSPA+ network (no LTE)
  • Android 4.3 Jelly Bean

The difference is that Amazon’s Moto G wont become officially available until December 4th, a full 2 days later than if purchased directly through Motorola. In any case, if you’re looking to pick up a new Android smartphone for the holidays, start hitting up friends and family for those Amazon gift cards.

I've been obsessed with consumer technology for about as long as I can remember, be it video games, photography, or mobile devices. If you can plug it in, I have to own it. Preparing for the day when Android finally becomes self-aware and I get to welcome our new robot overlords.

  1. I could have saved on taxes!! And had it sooner since mine isn’t shipping until week of the 9th from MOTO.

    1. That’s a good point. Motorola takes a few days with their shipping, Amazons got that 2-day shipping with Prime.

      1. And I found out once placed, Motorola won’t let you cancel an order, so never again from them. I should have waited for Amazon.

      2. Looks like Motorola gives Free Two Day Shipping as a Promo.

        1. Yes, but if– as reported by XDA users from their confirmation emails– they aren’t shipping until the week of the 9th– then two day shipping still means the 11th at the earliest. Remains to be seen how many Amazon will actually be able to ship on the 4th though.

  2. Too bad just at&t compatibility or else would have been a nice Christmas present for my sister if it was T-Mobile

  3. This must be the global gsm model which lacks T-Mobile ‘s aws HSPA bands

  4. It’s probably been said before, but this feels like the return of the Nexus 4.

  5. Interesting… the 8GB model says it will be released on the 2nd, while the 16GB model says the 4th. I don’t have much experience with Amazon pre-orders but it’s not clear to me whether the release date means Amazon will actually be shipping in any great quantity at that time, or that’s just when they are allowed to ship if they have stock.

  6. So overpriced better to get an iPhone 4s much better value

    1. Please kill a troll …

  7. Got one for my GF and I can honestly say it’s a great device. It was only $150 through Koodo (Canada) and after playing with it for a little while, this has to be the best phone under the Nexus 5 price ($350). Moto really did a good job here. Not really sure why Koodo had them early either… I got it for her on Friday (29th)
