5

The Motorola Droid R2-D2 is next in line for an update with support docs now posted to Verizon’s site. While the phone is still lacking in X-Wing navigation software, users not enlisted in the rebel fleet will enjoy bug fixes and security patches for the special edition Droid 2 handset along with a bump up to Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread. The update also includes upgraded Verizon-branded application as well as media, email, and messaging enhancements. The full changelog is captured above. More info can be found at Verizon.

  1. R2D2 is supposed to be something modern, of the future, and all that. So, what the dickens are they dropping back into the dark ages of OSes for with this 2.3.4 mess? They have known for quite a long time that ver. 4.0 was around for them to use, so USE it.

  2. That is absolutely sad!!! Who wants gingerbread its 2012 already. Phones have started rolling out the ice cream update already. They should have did this 10 months ago. Verizon and Motorola failed horribly with this 1.

    1.  just this one?

  3. I was this >< close to getting the R2 for my GF too but got the D2G. She's on her second one and she said that after the last update it fixed some bugs for her, so hopefully it does for your GF too.(Jedi54)
