After Amazon went and secured KindleScribe.com and KindleScribes.com, it seems they have something else called the Amazon Boomerang as they’ve registered AmazonBoomerang.com. I should note that we have no idea what this could be – Amazon has yet to file a trademark with such a name (from what we can find) that could have given a bit of insight into what we’re expecting. This could be a phone, a tablet, or even a popcorn maker. But you all know we’re hoping this will be that second device with Android we keep hearing Amazon will be bringing. [Fusible]
Is the possibility they’re just messing around with us/in general worth considering? It doesn’t cost a whole lot to register a .com and I’m sure it worth whatever advertising they get on tech sites who see it happen.
I’ve just registered AmazonSuppository.com – wonder what I have planned… the world is a-twitter.
You’re planning a new way to deliver hard back copies of the Encyclopedia Brittanica? :P
I called Amazon to ask them what Amazonboomerang was about. They took my number and told me someone would get back to me soon.
you got 2 hours before they show up, pack your personal belongings, don’t tell anyone where your going, leave your phone behind and run….run as fast as you can…..RUN!!!! RUN FORREST RUN!!!!
I don’t think it’s a gadget – I think it’s a “trade your old hardware in for a discount” program – like Walmart does.
Could be related to the rumor that Amazon wants to start a netflix style service with ebooks.
That would be my guess.
An actual boomerang.
Could also be a website or other webservice. According to domaintools.com they own over 500 domains at this point. What’s one more?
Or maybe it’s the URL for a possible online store in Australia? One only hopes :)
