New EVO 4G Users Getting an OTA Upgrade to Fix Camera

4

It’s been reported that owners of the new batch of HTC EVO 4Gs – the ones with the different software version number and difference in parts – are being notified to download an over the air update to fix the front-facing camera issue many have reported. Those of you on the newer EVOs should have version 3.30.651.2 if you haven’t updated, and should be stepped up to 3.30.651.3 post-update. Those of you on older EVO 4Gs (3.29.651.5) might be seeing the update as well, but Sprint urges that you don’t need to apply it considering you’re not affected by the issue it fixes. We haven’t heard of anyone downloading and applying the update to their older EVOs yet, but to be on the safe side, just don’t.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. If you don’t apply the update it’s going to keep nagging you about it, isn’t it?

  2. I have the old version and no update available.
BTY the flavor of the month at baskin robbins is gingerbread man.
Pretty darn tasty if you ask me.

  3. Wow the title of this post got me excited BUT its the REAR camera that needs the fix on all Evos. Better focus and handling of low light, as well as a better timed flash (or tunable flash). I really don’t care about the front camera at all until my area has 4G so the Qik calls are super choppy.

  4. check out goodandevo.com for a detailed look at this. If you didn’t get the OTA, then it probably isn’t for your phone, don’t go hunting for it to do a manual update, it might make things worse.
