Official: Samsung Fascinate Due September 9th

21

One of Samsung’s commercials for the Samsung Fascinate on Verizon got a quick change in visuals, today, as the once “Coming Soon” product is now “available Sept. 9 at Verizon”. The slightly new ad – which had already been running without a pegged date for a few days now – was spotted by Phonedog and it doesn’t give us any reason to call foul. Many leaks, rumors, and evidence led up to a launch this Thursday, but nothing could be confirmed. We’re still waiting on Verizon and/or Samsung’s official press release to put the final nail into this coffin (or, more appropriately, to put the last drip of frosting onto this delicious-looking cake), but you can start making plans to take off from work later this week.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. So will the Verizon website start allowing orders on this phone at midnight Thursday morning or will it actually go live later in the morning?

I didn’t pay attention to how the Incredible, X, or D2 launches went, any ideas?

  2. I’m going to wait for reviews before I buy. I want to know how borked the GPS is.

  3. Ugh, I have a feeling this phone will be easily neglected by Verizon. Their selling “Droid” and they are doing a damn good job of it. Too bad, love my Vibrant.

  4. The Droid X launched online about 3AM. I sat up hitting refresh for 3 hours. lol

  5. @ Josh. I too feel that the Fascinate will go largly unnoticed by Verizon customers, I wish Verizon would advertise it as the Droid Galaxy or Droid Fascinate I think it would get more attention that way. On the other hand Samsung may not want it advertised as a “Droid” because the Fascinate is in the Galaxy S family already. Either way I think the Fascinate will most likely be a great phone and will be apriciated by those people who stay informed, it’s too bad though.

  6. I don’t think the Fascinate will get the attention of the Droid phones, but it won’t go unnoticed. Samsung is running commercials for it, and when people see it on display with the epic Super AMOLED screen, is WILL get noticed. Looks like I’m going to be up until midnight this Wednesday night. =)

  7. i’ve already sold 5 of the fascinates. gotta love working for an indirect dealer. suck it corporate.

  8. I, for one, am definitely paying attention to the fascinate. I’ll wait to see how it’s received, though, before trading in my Incredible; there are quite a few cool new phones in the pipe, and it concerns me a little that Samsung didn’t go with a better camera on the back and a front-facing camera for video chatting.

  9. @ timothy there’s no noticeable difference in 8mp camera vs 5mp camera on a phone. having played with the fascinate, incredible, and droid x there is no difference in photo quality, and they all do awesome video. as far as front facing camera..how many people do you know with video chat capabilities on their phone?

  10. I’m not sure what to do on this one…one says metal “type” of case and one states plastic…the other 3 variations get the full boat and we get stripped down…and not knowing when froyo comes is plain stupid. Like you and others have said my only saving grace is they are late to the party because they have resolved the issues at hand. And lastly I too will wait for more hands on, ripped apart, thrown to the wolves, etc to see if it makes sense. I’m coming back from at&t and don’t want to make another mistake.

  11. Its true, once you get 5MP and above, for small aperature cameras, you wont notice a difference between 8MP etc. The post processing is what you will notice. As for Video they rely on a separate processor so the MP they describe for still pics is not relevant to video.
I do DISAGREE that the front camera is not a big deal. YES IT IS. In all the shootouts of the new Android phones and Iphone 4, They give bonus points for the front facing camera just cause they have it. Yes its VGA, but if it gives me the capability to voice chat soon across the world for free. WHy not!

  12. That’s interesting becuase I saw a Verizon salesperson woth a Fascinate just yesterday.

  13. @Tauran
I just don’t see how a feature you’ll never use because no one else has it on their phone is essential. It seems to me that people just want it to show off because Apple added it. Who cares if it’s a bullet point in a comparison if you won’t ever use it?

  14. I might get this phone.. it has front facing camera??

  15. I think verizon is not advertising it as much because they are so hand and hand with motorola. I know personally i cannot wait for this phone and @Tauran who cares what some reviewer says about a phone. If you like it and it does what you want it to do then why does it matter if it isnt the so called top overall phone?

  16. if you have concerns about marketing take it up with samsung, not verizon. as customer there will be a moment of consideration since verizon isnt controlling the marketing for it so the momentum will take time. however, it wont be neglected by support but i wonder how many people out there are going to make up problems with their current devices to get the fascinate instead. be warned, you will be shot down unless you are in the first 30 days of a new purchase.

  17. Screw this! I want HSPA+!!!

  18. You can bet to see it online at midnight eastern time! That is how the X was. I was able to get it online after 11am Central time! This phone looks nice!!!

  19. @the fake Mensahwatts again…your posting the samething over annd over again…lol…man not only are you using my name…but your making me look pretty dumb…who are you foo?

  20. @ COMMENT 12 AGAIN STOP USING MY NAME GO AND GET T-MOBLE AND watch how Verizon rolls out the true 4g…AND STOP USING MY NAME YOU SILLY one liner BUTTPICKLE

  21. If this is the route Verizon is going with it’s future Android devices I can see myself parting ways with them come February when I plan to replace my Incredible. When they signed that search deal with Microsoft I knew they’d be pushing Bing, woke up to an install link forced onto my Storm last year, but to make it the default on an Android phone and not have a way to change it is no bueno!
