Samsung’s Galaxy Tab Spotted in the Wild?

13

We’ve seen Samsung’s Android-based tablet – the Samsung Galaxy Tab – before (and it was quite the convincing shot), but it appears that the tablet is going through its prototypical and testing phases and has been caught in the wild again. Nothing’s confirmed, but it looks a lot like the 7-inch beaut we’ve seen spotted before.

The picture was leaked by Twitter account “metabaron” and it looks like someone’s giving a group of people a presentation on it. I won’t be surprised to learn that Samsung’s holding focus group sessions to shape this into a device that people will want (a very important step in a new product’s ongoing development if you’re looking to take down “the king”).

We should be seeing this device launching sometime within the next couple months as JK Shin’s confirmed that it’s still on course for a Q3 launch. The Galaxy Tab will feature Android (version not yet finalized) with TouchWiz 3.0, GPS, WiFi, 3G, and a front-facing and rear-facing camera.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. Wow, you guys will post anything on here?

  2. We post anything regarding Android. We are Ph-Android, after all.

  3. @ Daniel – Why wouldn’t this be posted? After seeing the speed and screens of the Samsung Galaxy phones (Vibrant, in particular), I’m pretty excited about the Galaxy Tab.

  4. I played with a Pandigital Novel recently and have to say the 7-inch screen makes for a perfect device size. It feels a lot more natural in my hands than an iPad (no iPad hate here – it’s just not for me).

  5. +1 Quentyn

  6. I wonder how can I get one of these to test it out. I know they will be looking for testers pretty soon

  7. -1 Daniel

  8. I want one. I hope that one that is closer to the size of the iPad comes out at the same time, or shortly after the one in the picture.

  9. @Daniel:

Why shouldn’t they post this? If you don’t like it, don’t click the article.

  10. I just can’t get excited about Tablets. It’s like a phone only a lot bigger and can’t do as much and like a laptop only a lot smaller and can’t do as much. Put it together and it’s not as good as just getting a small cellphone that can do everything I want and a nice fast laptop that can do everything I want.

  11. I love the idea of tablets for gaming and augmented reality, stuff like that.

    Bigger screen, more horsepower.

Things the size of a phone are so often lumped into the low expectations of a phone.

    Can’t wait!

  12. @Daniel:
this is a site devoted to anything android. you probably meant to type in apple.com. You might want to stick with sites related to YOUR interests, not ours.

  13. but will it make calls? I was going to get the captivate but if this will make calls I’ll wait.
