Before there had even been a “Honeycomb,” Sharp impressed me with a couple of its Galapagos tablets. The software was quite decent for an Android tablet at the time, though the advent of Honeycomb has obviously overshadowed that and many other interfaces. Sharp’s looking to take another stab at the tablet market, though.
New photos of a 7 inch device running Honeycomb have appeared. It doesn’t look much different from similar offerings and it’s just as similar to competing devices internally.
1GB of RAM and a dual-core Tegra 2 processor power Android 3.0 (could be 4.0 down the line). We’ve also got a 5 megapixel rear camera, a 2 megapixel front camera, 8GB of internal storage which can be expanded via microSD slot, Bluetooth, WiMax and HMDI out.
Oddly enough, the source of this photo says the device won’t be released until September. We’re not sure if that’s a typo or if they mean 2012, but I would really hate to see this thing come out late next year when better tablets will surely be on the horizon. Good luck, Sharp. That’s just awfully thick and square. Looks like a bad design photo frame.
Any new tablets coming out now need to have ICS out of the box. The design of this tablets sucks. It does look like a photo frame gone wrong.
