Let’s ignore the fact that taking pictures with a bulky tablet isn’t the most ideal way to capture life’s best moments. Whether or not you plan to carry the upcoming ASUS Transformer Prime around in your bag, your smartphone or a point-and-shoot will always serve as a more accessible way to quickly capture a scene. Still, given enough time and the right conditions the quad-core Prime’s 8MP autofocus camera and its f/2.4 aperture and back-illuminated sensor can create some pretty impressive shots. ASUS flaunted the results on their Facebook page, making us all the more anxious for the release of the Tegra 3 slate.

8mp doesn’t impress me, F2.4 does.
F2.4 on a cellphone doesn’t impress me, most phones are all around there anyway. It’s about the qc ^_^
Well, they didn’t have to aim very high to beat the camera on their first TF. I’d have to say that’s the weakest link of the current one.
Also, as has already been pointed out, “fast” apertures on cellphone cameras isn’t anything new by a long shot. They’ve been around for years. The big problem is that those fast apertures mean not a whole lot with such a tiny sensor.
The Prime has good specs, but there are other options coming down the pipes which are at least as good and aren’t made by companies with ASUS’ terrible track record for customer service and support.
I’m sorry but you clearly haven’t been paying attention to their previous Tablet the original Transformer as its had by far the best support out of any of the current Tablets. Updates have come thick and fast and far before all the competition and they’ve provided superb support in terms of software provided, extras and so on and there’s absolutely no reason to think it won’t be the same with the Prime.
Whether they’ve been bad in the past or not they got it 100% right with the Transformer and I’ll be trading mine in for the new Prime when its released, so I’d really check your facts before posting ill advised comments next time.
As I said, it looks good. That will be nice until you run into a problem. Then you’re pretty well screwed. If you aren’t aware of the reputation ASUS has earned, do yourself a favor and at least look into it before spending any more money with them.
I’ve been using ASUS products long before they become a household name with the creation of the netbook.
Actally, many people have been using ASUS products without even knowing it. Even Apple users. They were once the ODM for Apple, Sony, and numerous other manufacturers.
They’ve been making great products for longer then you may even know and their customer service and support is top of the line and always have been. Even now with the Transformer, they more or less set the standard for what consumers would like to see from other manufacturers concerning the support they have for their device.
I don’t know what you are talking about with “ASUS’ terrible track record for customer service and support.”
Well, anyone who’s actually ever tried to deal with them for support knows what I’m talking about. Since you have indicated that you don’t, please keep your ignorant opinions to yourself.
Mind quoting me where I indicated I’ve never had to deal with their customer support?
I’ve had to deal with them on a few occasions. They never gave me a hard time. Shit happens.
Maybe it was your attitude that made them not treat you so nicely….
Btw, that meant to hit reply, but hit liked instead. o_O
Somehow I think you’re not telling the truth about dealing with their support.
If that’s not the case: congratulations, you’re one of the lucky few who got through without being spit on.
p.s. Nice edit. Your previous “I don’t have cooties. You have cooties.” response was never going to fly.
Nothing impresses me
;-)
This looks like an excellent way to capture bedroom Olympics.
I love the fact they aren’t just using Quad-core as there single selling point… Camera, display, support of games, keyboard, sleek design and head start of the competition are all good solid selling points for them right now… Good Job Asus… Can’t wait to own one.
thats exactly the reason i didnt jump on the tablet wagon. These guys have the support, they have the hardware and software covered. im ready to bother throwing money on a tablet now that its had some time to mature :)
also on another note im a long time asus HATER. Back in the day i had a few of their videocards and the support for RMAs and whatnot was downright fucking horrible. im glad to see they got their shit together and are bringing the boat around so to speak. for me to even consider them means alot :)
This looks promising! I have an ASUS laptop and this surely is on top of my to buy list.
