The folks at Archos are sending out invites to French press to join them in Paris on June 23rd. What’ll they be doing near the Eiffel Tower? Why, introducing their next generation of Android tablets, of course. We don’t know what to expect out of this event from Archos, but we have a feeling they’re just about ready to adopt Honeycomb. Well, so says that damn blue and black bee bugging Andy in the invitation, anyway.
While they were some of the first on the market with Android tablets and slates, they’ve been passed up by OEMs who are using Google’s official tablet-friendly OS. They’re ready to break out of the stone age now, though, and it should be exciting to see what they’ll be bringing to the table. [via ArchosLounge, Thanks Romain!]
An unlocked bootloader and a dual-core processor are a must.
However, if I’m going to spend even $400 on something from Archos, a low end company, I’d rather just spend an extra $150 and buy something from HTC or Samsung.
These announcements about products coming down the pipe are just getting old. Where’s the Samsung Galaxy S 2? Or the Samsung 10.1 tablet? When the products are released, there’s usually very little stock (anyone seen an Asus Transformer anywhere?) and lots of bugs that need to be hammered out that totally take the wind out of any excitement. (Read: Thunderbolt battery and random reboot issues or Xoom pricing and bugs.) Everything that sounds like a great product is still “soon to be released or teased!” (Amazon tablet?) The next great product that blows the industry out of the water and sets the standard inevitably comes from Apple. They announce it and release it usually within a month and it works out of the box with little or no issues. (Antenna-gate aside.) I’m a big Android fan and use an HTC Android smartphone but I’m just getting tired of the next great thing being just around the corner….oh, but wait.
Will Charbax be there for Phandroid?
I ordered sgs2 from Europe and recieved it 2 days later. Not bad for an unavailable product. As for bugs, they are non-existing on my sgs2. This phone is flawless i’ve had 5 different android phones so far and i can say with confidence that it blows almost every other phone out of the water (only reason im not saying it blows every phone out of the water is because i havent the new dual core htc’s) but it sure destroys the atrix. If you doubt me get one yourself and you’ll see what i mean.
Archos will find a way to screw up Honeycomb.
Archos has its issues, but they are the only one selling a tablet with what I consider to be acceptable storage. I have no problems whatsoever with my 250gig Archos 70, and am looking forward to the next gen stuff, REALLY need to unlock the device this go around though.
I can has Archos Gen 9?
