The folks at Dolphin have been hard at work on the next iteration of their popular Android browser, but only a select group of people were able to get their hands on the latest up until this point. They’ve announced a public beta for version 5.0, though. Changes may not seem significant on the surface, but things such as sub-folder support in bookmarks make it quite the desirable upgrade for me. (And many others, I’m sure.) only use dolphin browser when I want to stream a video I uploaded to my google docs. The Docs app and stock browser, automatically download the video to SD or cache rather than stream it. (Dolphin browser user agent does need to be set to desktop )
I am one of the private beta testers. The U.I has been slightly refined to be smoother as well as a big speed increase on wifi almost instant I have found(HTC Thunderbolt). I too love the new folders you will find some more new small changes. There are some bugs but overall it IS better.
How does it compare to Miren?
i love miren, but might switch for this. miren is good, and very well made, but not even close to polished and finished off. so many features and possible ideas are missing. the miui devs in china sure did a great job releasing a 1.0 (ok, maybe 1.2) but i’m still waiting on a 2.0.
Just what might those be? It’s hard to believe “so many features” can be missing in an app that can hold its own as a fully functional tablet browser… Even so, I can’t see myself going back to dolphin anyway.
