Dyson just launched a new pair of headphones

0

When you think of Dyson, what comes to mind? If you said vacuum cleaners, electric fans, and hairdryers, you would be correct. But now it looks like we can add another product category to the list – headphones. Dyson has unveiled its latest pair of headphones in the form of the OnTrac.

Interestingly enough, this is actually not Dyson’s first attempt at creating headphones. Back in 2022 while COVID-19 was still very much in swing, Dyson launched the Zone. Those were a pair of headphones that also came with an air purifying mask. Thankfully with the Dyson OnTrac, the company has gone with a more conventional approach for headphones.

It still very much features Dyson’s design language, but it looks less outlandish. The Dyson OnTrac, like many other wireless headphones, features support for active noise cancellation. There are a total of eight microphones built into the headphones that samples external noise at a rate of 384,000 times per second. Dyson claims that this will result in best-in-class noise cancelation capabilities.

The headphones also boast a pretty large battery that is rated for 55 hours with ANC enabled. It supports quick charging where a 10 minute charge can add an extra 2.5 hours of listening time. As for audio quality, we can’t speak to that just yet, but Dyson says that the OnTrac features 40mm drivers with a frequency range from 6Hz up to 21kHz.

Dyson has also built in touch controls in the ear cups, along with a physical joystick for playback control. There are various customization options to choose from in terms of colors once the headphones go on sale on the 1st of August with a starting price of $500.
