Alongside the announcement for the new Smart Home Hub, Samsung also introduced its latest smart projector named “The Freestyle“. This projector will display content in 1080p resolution while providing one of the more portable and feature-rich projectors that you can find on the market today.
As expected, The Freestyle will optimize the screen size based on how far away it is from the backdrop. It will even go so far as to auto-focus and level out the image, regardless of whether it’s placed on an angle or not.

This design is pretty unique in that you’ll enjoy a built-in 5-watt woofer to immerse you in whatever it is that you’re watching or listening to. Naturally, you’ll also be able to enjoy many of your favorite streaming apps, with a bit of a twist.
Instead of forcing owners to rely on Bixby for smart assistant integration, Samsung also integrated Amazon Alexa. While we would have liked to see support for Google Assistant, having an alternative to Bixby is still a nice touch that was unexpected.
When it comes to power, you have a couple of different options. For one, you could use the AC adapter that is included in the packaging, so you can plug The Freestyle right into the wall. However, Samsung has also optimized its charging capabilities to support the use of portable chargers through a USB-C cable. Essentially, you’ll be able to take this projector with you everywhere and can provide the power, even if you’re not close to a traditional wall outlet.
It should come as no surprise, but this projector is a bit pricier than other projectors that we’ve seen released in the past year. Samsung has already put up The Freestyle for pre-order, priced at $899.99. And for a limited time, Samsung will throw in a free case, saving you $60 and allowing you to keep your new projector protected.
