It’s a safe assumption that later this year, Google could be launching the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL. Now based on recent comments made in an AOSP discussion, a Google developer might have revealed that the Pixel 4 is already in development and that Google could be getting around to testing it out.
According to the developer’s comments, Google is currently testing out a software update on the Pixel 3, and that if the testing goes well, they could be moving onto the Pixel 4.
“The plan was to first deploy this on Pixel 3 and make sure that everything actually works. Then move on to Pixel 4 and so on. If I had a Pixel 4 device, I probably wouldn’t have bothered with 4.9 in the first place.”
That being said, we wouldn’t be surprised if Google was already testing out the Pixel 4 in some form or the other. We imagine that the testing period probably takes several months, so now seems like a good time as any to begin testing out the handset. Unfortunately, the comment doesn’t really tell us what to expect other than to say that the phone is in development.
In the meantime, we have also heard the rumors that Google could have some budget Pixel 3 handsets in the works where they could actually be half the price of the Pixel 3. There is no word on when the devices will be launched, but chances are they might make an appearance at Google I/O rather than at the Pixel 4’s event.
