How to add a notification ring to the Galaxy S10 and S10+ using the hole-punch

0

First, there was Holey-Hole, which hosted a number of wallpapers to make the hole-punch disappear, and now we have Holey-Light to do the exact opposite.

Developer by Chainfire, the app uses the hole-punch on the S10, S10+, and S10e to display a notification ring. How does that work you may ask?

The app aims to replace a feature that many were quite disappointed to see dropped from the S10 series with the move to an Infinity-O display. Having a visual indication when a notification is received is one of my favorite features on a smartphone, so Holey Light is a welcome mod to the S10, S10+, and S10e.

The notification light won’t display on the lock screen or when the screen is off, and that’s not the fault of the app itself but more to do with limitations imposed by Android. It does, however, allow you to be notified when using your device that you’ve got a notification by flashing the edges of the camera cutout in various colors.

It must be noted that the app is in beta so expect early bugs but certainly offers a unique feature that I’m sure many will appreciate. The app has just had an update, which adds some extra features.

– Fix compatibility with Qualcomm devices
– Add animation size/position/speed fine-tuning
– Add notification color override
– Clarify various error messages, popups, descriptions
– Show a test notification while the app’s UI is open

You can download Holey Light for free from the Play Store here. If you’d prefer to turn your hole-punch into a battery indicator, then be sure to check out Energy Ring here.
