Major carriers are making it free for those affected by Hurricane Harvey to contact their loved ones

As is usual with these natural disasters, the carrier powers that be want to knock down any barriers you may have in trying to contact your loved ones. The same is happening with the recent carnage left behind by Hurricane Harvey in Texas and Louisiana.

Sprint, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon are all making it possible for those in the areas affected to contact their friends and family without incurring any charges or eating up usage pools. This may not be an issue for many depending on which plans you have as many modern plans offer unlimited services, but it’s nice to know that everyone’s covered regardless. Here’s a quick breakdown:

• Verizon: 3GB of bonus data to customers in qualified Texas counties, effective through September 8th.
• AT&T: Any additional charges you receive for extra data, texts, and voice used will be credited back to you for activity trough September 1st.
• T-Mobile: Calls and texts from impacted areas to anywhere in the US are free through September 1st, MetroPCS customers included.
• Sprint: Fees for calls, texts, and data are waived through September 1st, Boost and Virgin customers included.
