It wasn’t too long ago that we’d first heard about the specs expected to be featured inside the HTC-built Nexus Sailfish. Those specs lay out as follows:
- 5-inch 1080p display (~440PPI)
- Unknown model quad-core 2.0GHz 64-bit processor
- 12MP rear, 8MP front cameras
- 4GB RAM
- 32GB storage
- 2,770mAh battery
- Rear-mounted fingerprint scanner
- USB-C port
- Bottom facing speaker
- Top-mounted headphone jack
- Bluetooth 4.2
Fast forward to today and the device’s supposed entry into GFXBench’s database, and you can see those original rumors seem to have been spot on. The listing tells of the 5-inch 1080p display, 12MP rear camera, 8MP front camera, and 4GB of RAM. That “unknown” quad-core chipset is now known to be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820. You can also put down a nice stamp of confidence regarding that 32GB of storage.
It doesn’t like a device that’ll wow us, but if you know Nexus, then you know it isn’t supposed to. This is a developer device that’s powerful enough to test the types of applications Google expects you’ll want to, such as Daydream VR. It should come in at a somewhat affordable price point compared to, say, the Nexus 6P. Our money is on $399, but your guess is just as good. Let’s hope it won’t take long to get an actual answer from the horse’s mouth.
