Red Dot — yep, the same Red Dot whose name is highly regarded when it comes to contemporary design — has potentially leaked ASUS’ next flagship. An entry for the ZenFone 3 has shown up on the company’s Red Dot 21 website well ahead of its expected reveal at Taiwan’s Computex show.
We don’t get a full-blown spec sheet here, but what we do get are some telling images and a few details about what we’re to expect. The device will supposedly feature 2.5D glass on both the front and rear, with a “decorative film” with a “metallic spin texture,” wording which suggests it’s not actual metal, but since glass is covering it you probably don’t care.
The frame’s metal is aluminum, though, so you’re getting a pretty solid phone in when it comes to construction. Other details revealed include a fingerprint scanner, a front-facing flash, USB Type-C and a fingerprint scanner. The ZenFone 3 will also be compatible with a Smart Flip Cover that uses the brightness of the screen to deliver notifications without you having to expose the display.
