Matte Gold Nexus 6P now available in the US and we give you a first look [VIDEO + Gallery]

Gold was one of the color options sorely lacking on the Nexus 6P when it was made official back in September. We knew it was headed to Japan as a carrier exclusive “special edition” — even heard word that it would soon make its way to the US — but it’s only today that we’ve received official word from the manufacturer themselves.

Announced during Huawei’s big CES 2016 keynote, you can officially buy the new “Matte Gold” Nexus 6P from the Google Store starting today (although only in 32/64GB storage configurations at the time of writing). The color doesn’t come at a premium or anything like that. It simply offers a new take on arguably the greatest smartphone in the world.

Because no 2 “gold” colors are ever alike (some are yellow, some are more of a bronze, and others are like a champagne), you may be wondering how Huawei’s definition of the color translates to real life. Don’t worry, we got you. We took a quick hands-on video (and a handful of photos), to give you a better idea of what the phone looks like in normal, natural lighting. Hopefully this will be enough to help you make an informed purchase.

You can pick up the new Matte Gold Nexus 6P from the Google Store for $500 32GB, or $550 for the 64GB. Let’s just hope none of you got suckered into buying that $2,000 gold model someone was selling on eBay the other day.
