Motorola’s leaking so much information about the DROID MAXX 2 you’d think someone on the inside is secretly mad that their phone isn’t in the rumor mill as much as others’. After confirmation of the device’s existence in yet another Motorola app listing yesterday, Motorola leaked more details about the DROID MAXX 2 in help files on their website (which have since been removed).
The help files exist to help a user through taking the backplate off their phone — so, that reveals a removable backplate! The plates will presumably give access to a SIM card tray, but from what we can tell the battery still isn’t user replaceable.
For what it’s worth, we didn’t actually need Motorola to tell us any of this, because they already did. The DROID MAXX 2 is a Verizon-branded version of the Moto X Play, and unless they went to great lengths to make it otherwise that likely hasn’t changed. That means you can expect a 5.5-inch 1080p device with a Snapdragon 615 chipset, 21 megapixel camera, 2GB of RAM and a 3,630mAh battery.
Of course, if you need any more solid details in official capacity then the wait won’t be long as Motorola and Verizon are putting on an October 27th event to take the wraps off. Join us once that day arrives.
