Lollipops

Sony’s Xperia Z line is still getting Android 5.0 Lollipop around the world, but the company is already looking forward to plans for delivering Android 5.1. They’ve announced that the entire Xperia Z line would get Android 5.1 Lollipop starting this July. It’s a tough cookie to chew considering not all regions have received the initial Lollipop build just yet, but we imagine most of that is up to carrier testing and approval.

Beyond the Xperia Z line, Sony has included the Xperia T2 Ultra, Xperia C3, Xperia M2 and Xperia M2 Aqua in the list of devices confirmed to be receiving Android 5.1 Lollipop (whether they’re coming from 5.0 or hopping over straight from KitKat).

Unfortunately Sony didn’t have any exact dates to share, and you should note that the June window is likely only guaranteed for unlocked handsets which receive updates directly from them.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

Dish and T-Mobile are considering a merger, and John Legere would be named CEO of the new pact

  1. Considering there are no Bands to add….when this update comes out from Sony……T-Mobile should not take as long to approve the update. Now I am getting my money’s worth out of my Z3 purchase..Loving lollipop!!!

    1. I hope so. Was the extra band the reason it took so long to get lollipop for tmo? So far, it’s great.

      1. Band had to be approved by FCC…which word around the water cooler says that is a lengthy process in itself…

  2. Sony made a right move by updating its flagship devices to 5.1. They should continue this and sit right back in the competition.

  3. z3v…still running 4.4.4

  4. Awesome! Sony have been most excellent with their updates.

  5. Just noticed that my wife’s Z3 has newer version of Android than my Note Edge.
