LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition gets Android Lollipop rollout; here’s a quick video of it in action

Google and LG have quietly prepared the Android Lollipop upgrade for the LG G Pad 8.3 Google play Edition as the software is now rolling out to owners of that device. Reports rolled in from AndroidForums.com that folks have already gotten the notification to download and install the upgrade on their device.

As you know, the Google Play Edition of some of these mainstream devices strips more or all of the custom bits put in by OEMs to deliver a more Nexus-like experience, so you can expect Lollipop in its near-purest form once you’ve gotten it loaded up. It seems Google is delivering the goods to everyone at the same time so it should be just as simple as jumping onto WiFi, heading to the settings menu and checking for the firmware upgrade.

If you can’t seem to pull it down then one crafty XDA member has uploaded the update file (direct download link here) to take you from stock Android 4.4.4 KitKat to the new Android 5.0 Lollipop. You can use these instructions to return to stock if you’re not already on it, then flash the update file as you normally would in your device’s recovery menu.

AndroidForums.com member DyDX takes us on a quick stroll through the update so be sure to check that out above if you’re wondering what to expect, especially if you’ve got nothing better to do while you wait for your upgrade to find its way to your own tablet.
