If you still happen to be on a Sprint Samsung Galaxy S3 and have been yearning for KitKat, today’s your lucky day — they’ve unleashed the beast and it’s ready and waiting for you to download it. Sprint’s changelog wasn’t very detailed, as the only information they gave us was that it brings us up to KitKat.
What does that mean? Better memory management, support for translucent system bars and the ability to easily specify your preferred messaging app, for starters. The full breadth of information about the latest version of Android can be had here, so give that a quick gander if you need to be caught up to speed.
Once you’ve done all that, be sure to charge your phone to at least 50% and get on WiFi to check for it over the air (Settings > More > System Update > Update Samsung Software > Check Now). Don’t mind a manual flash? Grab the file from Google’s own servers right here, and don’t forget that you’ll have to be on the latest stock firmware (that means no root or custom ROM / recovery) to flash it.
[Sprint via XDA, thanks to everyone who sent this in!]

Why does that link bring me to Amazon?
As a Sprint Note 2 owner this is like a kick in the groin.
That is like a poke in the arm. Being a Verizon Note 3 owner, this is like a kick in the groin.
Yeah no denying that!
Even bigger kick to the groin, then the face, then a cheap shot “look over there” blind sided with some brass knuckles. Note 3 owner on….. Verizon. Still waiting on KitKat!!
I tell myself it’ll happen on May 12th.
You realise they probably have lots of different teams working on different phones.
Have had KitKat on my phone for months now. I’m sorry, I can’t hear you (carriers) over the sound of Cyanogenmod 11.
I’m running that on my Note 2 as well and totally agree. Just think with an official build it would be that much better. Seeing we’re still on nightlies.
Agreed. I’m over Cyanogenmod. In fact I believed it was the worst of all roms. I’d rather AOKP any day. Although I don’t do custom roms anymore. Always found problems with every kind of rom. Usually the camera.
wow on S3 too officially? Samsung is taking care of 2+ yr old flagships…good!
I get your point, but technically the s3 for Sprint was released 6/21/2012
