Waiting for one of Sony’s most exciting smartphones yet? When the company revealed the Sony Xperia Z1s, we were quite excited. I mean, how can you not get excited for a 5-inch 1080p HD device with a Snapdragon 800 processor and an insane 20 megapixel camera? Even more exciting was the fact that the device would be launching here in the United States, which has been a bit of a rarity for Sony phones over the past few years.
But Sony and T-Mobile’s healthy partnership continues as this device has finally launched exclusively on Magenta’s growing network. You can now grab the Xperia Z1s for $0 down at $528 off-contract. That comes out to $22 per month for 24 months, which is not a bad cost for smartphone packed to the brim with powerful specs. Here’s how they read out:
- 5.5-inch 1080p HD display
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor
- 2GB of RAM
- 32GB of internal storage
- 20.7 megapixel camera
- 3,000 mAh battery
- 4G LTE
- MHL, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and WiFi
- Android 4.3 Jelly Bean
- 5.74 x 2.91 x 0.34 inches
- 5.71 ounces
- Waterproof
Seems worth it to me. If you’re not interested in buying it online you’ll be able to walk into a store and pick one up in person starting January 21st at select T-Mobile stores online. Otherwise, head here to get started (and don’t forget to check out our hands-on time with this thing from CES 2014 last week).
sadly I don’t have access to jump on my xperia z until march. Can’t wait!
Mines is on the 21st. I wanted to use it, but there’s nothing out. =.=
I was thinking about getting this, then in July get the HTC Two since I’m sure it’ll be out and reviewed by that time.
hTC One+
It’s an 5.0″ device, not a 5.5″ right??
Error in this article…is it a 5 inch or 5.5 inch screen ? C’mon!
It is a 5″ device, but the listed spec had a typo.
I like the Sony water resistant concept, but that Bravia software is hard to look at. GPE would work with this phone as long as they seamlessly involve the Bravia integration for the camera and IR blaster.
I’m liking the water resistant concept as well. It’s something that I think OEM’s should start focusing on. IDK… I’d love to see this elsewhere.
Samsung got onboard too with the S4 Active. The problem is that they change the specs a tad too much and overcharge for more. Instead of giving me a 4k display, water resistance is something that’s of use to me.
those bezel makes the phone look too big they should have reduce them.
Yea.. strangely sony always comes out with thick bezel phones… not sure if this has to do anything with its water resistance nature.
I am in Europe and have the xperia z1. It is the best phone I have ever had. The camera is very good. I also love the magnetic USB charger. It is very quick to respond as well.
Magnetic USB charger?
Sorry thought I had replied. Here is a link with a picture of the cable. You don’t need to open he flaps http://www.digi4u.co.uk/phone-computer-tablet-accessories/phone-accessories/lg-nokia-sony-others/black-magnetic-usb-charger-charging-cable-cord-for-sony-xperia-z1-xl39h-l39h.html#sthash.Zg9VUtGz.dpbs
I bet they still have that plastic on the screen that gets scratched easily when you’re phone goes in and our of your pocket
They do supply a plastic screen protector. I never use them. I have had the phone for about 2 months. Screen appears OK. I have put a skin on the back as that is glass as well.
Anyone knows how the low-light performance the Z1 has?
Will there ever gonna be a white version in T-Mobile?
