It’s been roughly about 12 hours since Motorola was supposed to begin their big Cyber Monday sale on off-contract Moto Xs. Because of the increase of traffic, the site went down and the $150-off sale never actually got off the ground (although Developer Editions were selling at the discounted price).
Here we are, in the wee evening hours and Motorola is finally back with an update. In a Tweet that went out just a few moments ago, Motorola is now promising that if they can’t get everything up and running by 9:30pm ET (about 15 minutes from now), they’ll offer the same deal at noon (ET) on Wednesday, then again next Monday, December 9th but with double the amount of devices available.
Sounds like a better deal to us.
UPDATE: Motorola has thrown in the towel. Rather than go live tonight, they’ve announced that the Motomaker deal will resume on Wednesday at noon ET and again on Monday, doubling your chances to pick up a customized Moto X for $350. Happy?

Well, since Friday, I’ve had problems with many vendors I’ve been trying to get some deals from. All for the same reason – pseudo DDOS, genereted by eager customers. At least tech companies offered their apologies and some form of special treatment. Shoes companies didn’t do that.
Must have been designed by the obamacare website people.

This must be the best marketing trick since Coca Cola with their “New Coke” campaign.
Move away from all the hype this one day, and offer this price two day with many days apart. Enough to make people start talking, and others to be interested that wasnt in the beginning. Then there will be more moto x’s running around causing more recognition.

Be careful ordering direct from Motorola. I ordered a Moto G the day it was made available with a ship date of Dec. 9th. The following day I attempted to cancel the order and they said it was already processed and could not be cancelled even though the ship date was still 8 days away. Another great reason to buy everything from Amazon where they understand customer service.
That and if you have Prime free 2 day shipping. But, lets be honest, most people would be very happy if a shipment procedes the promised date. Lets not get into a no win situation. I’m don’t think your wrong in changing your mind, done it myself. Luckly been able to do it before it was shipped, but if wasn’t able to, it would be on me to either refuse delivery and or return a sealed box.
Probably going Moto X early spring when my work upgrade hits… Wishes for Moto X-2:
1) Better camera
2) 20% thinner, 10mm is thick.
3) Faster SoC as long as it doesn’t sacrifice the phone’s great battery life (too soon to ask for ARMv8? Apple can do it so you can you)
4) Better color calibration on the OLED.
5) Headphone jack on bottom.
Keep everything else the same, don’t make it any bigger, same non-pentile OLED please, it’s perfect.
Another disappointment for Motorola! This phone has been a disaster as far as getting it out to the public. their sales figures will back me up on that.
