You may have heard about the LG G Flex in previous leaks, and now we are treated to an even closer look at the rumored device in all its glory. The folks from The Verge have been treated to some pretty clear photos of the device, which is supposed to employ a flexible display that’s virtually indestructible. One of the photos show just how aggressive the curve on the G Flex is, with it being much more profound than the one on, say, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus.

The device features the back-placed power and volume buttons that we saw on the LG G2, which has us assuming that the G Flex will also get KnockOn functionality (the ability to turn the display on by tapping it twice). The curve is of vertical nature when looking at the device in portrait mode, which is completely opposite of what Samsung did with the horizontally-curved Samsung Galaxy Round.

The device is supposed to house a 13 megapixel camera and the display could be up to 6 inches large, but there’s not much else we know about this interesting little device at this time. Those details should hopefully come to light soon, though, as rumors state LG is looking to get the G Flex out of the door by November. Be sure to head here to watch a quick hands-on video of the device.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. looks like a nexus s and a galaxy nexus

  2. Phandroid team, Can you add an option to view all the pictures in one go instead of clicking the picture one by one (it takes you to a different page).

    1. Hey, I fixed it. Looks like something wasn’t checked off correctly in the backend. Now when you click an image, a gallery will pop up in the page, and let you click through the larger images. Hope this helps.

      1. Thats why i love you man!

  3. Must resist galaxy note 3 longer.. Nexus 5 and this keeping me intrigued

  4. If this display is “virtually indestructible” then I would think they could sell a ton of phones if they made an LG2 mini (4.3″) with this display for kids. But who is buying $600 phones for children. (a lot of people where I live)

    1. The display is “virtually” unbreakable but the other parts of the phone are well breakable.

  5. I’m over here hating on curved displays. They look so uncomfortable to use. I’m just afraid of change. A curved display would shorten the length and/or width of the phone allowing a 6 inch device to feel like a 5 inch.

Well… those sizes may be a bit extreme, but I’m sure y’all get my point.

  6. Is there not a difference between a flexible display and a curved display?

    1. Flexible = Raw Tortilla
Curved = Tortilla left on the stove for too long :)

  7. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck I want this device!!!

  8. What’s the difference between that and the Galaxy Nexus? Looks to have the same curve, maybe slightly more.

    1. Galaxy Nexus (and Nexus S before that) had curved glass with a flat screen panel, this has both the screen panel and glass curved.

  9. Looks like it sports a dual tone LED flash like the iPhone 5S. tsk tsk

  10. I’m wondering what the purpose is of a flexible but rigid display. Where’s Early when you need him? He knows everything. :p

  11. Even if this thing is a spec beast like the G2, what’s the point?

  12. cool video.. were they making fun of it being so huge at 4:10 ? lol! Thats definitely too big a phone for me. Ok if youre a NBA basketballer with large hands..

  13. How would this go into my pocket ?

    1. The same way that you would put keys, chapstick or a wallet. However, it all depends on which pocket you put it in. If you choose your back pocket, the phone would contour to your rear end, unless your rear is flat, then it would fit similarly to your front pocket.

      1. I always put my phone in my front right pocket, they way it’s curved it goes against our leg shape versus the curved new galaxy phone

        1. Then the LG Flex may not be for you. You might be in the Samsung round crowd…

  14. Any word on carrier availability?

  15. Best phone in the market is about to get better. Looking at you G2.

  16. Can someone tell me why a curved screen is such a good thing? I mean, really, what’s the point?

    1. i think this phone will hit g-spot easily.i guess…:)

    2. For one, when you place the phone face down on a tabletop, the screen doesn’t contact the surface. For two, reaching the top of the screen is slightly easier.

  17. This looks like the silhouette of the Galaxy Nexus we were teased close to its launch. I remember most of us drooling.
