PAC-MAN fans might like to know that a new free-to-play game has erected exclusively for Android. It’s called PAC-MAN Tournaments, and it’s a game largely driven by in-app purchases — you had to expect it, folks. The game delivers the classic PAC-MAN experience from 1980 as well as anew experience fueled by tournaments, leaderboards, achievements and other social features.
The main thing players will be buying are new mazes to compete on, so the experience should continue to get fresh for a long time coming. Namco Bandai has already promised the game would get new DLC in the future, so we already know we’re in store for a lot.
In addition to all of that, the most skilled players will be able to win actual PAC-MAN gadgets and memorabilia, so there’s good incentive to keep playing and improving. You can find it in the Google Play Store right now so give it a try and see if you can’t rekindle that old flame you left in the arcades of yesteryear.
Not a big fan of in app purchases
Freemium Pac Man? No thanks, Ill just dig out my Atari 2600.
Why does this app need my GPS location? And other running apps? Freemium is bad enough, now you want to harvest my information too? All for a crappy rehash of Pac-Man? Forget it. I’ll go to the bar and play the Pac-Man machine there instead. It’s more fun that way and is a true social experience.
Off the top, can think of:1. GPS = location-based ads (why get an ad from WA if you live in CA)
2. Phone/Contacts = pause game when you get a call / show caller id on game screen
3. Network Communication = share leaderboard information
Seriously… NAMCO needs to cut the crap and release PAC-MAN Battle Royale for Android and unleash the multiplayer madness: http://www.namcoamerica.com/game.php?gameid=30
