Nexus 7, 10, and Galaxy Nexus now receiving Android 4.2.2 (JDQ39) [UPDATE: Still no Nexus 4]

31

Some folks on Reddit are all abuzz with the Android 4.2.2 update to software build JDQ39 hitting a number of Google’s pure Android devices including the Nexus 7, Nexus 10 and even the (GSM) Galaxy Nexus (everything but the Nexus 4 at the moment).

The update has been rumored to address Bluetooth A2DP audio streaming but as of now, not much else is known. What we do know is these things tend to rollout in phases, so don’t fret if you’re in part of the globe (or US) and haven’t been able to pull the update just yet — it’s coming.

Anyone grab the update on their Nexus yet? Next up: Key Lime Pie!

  1. Tried but said my nexus 7 was up to date.

  2. So this means the Verizon Gnex is how many updates behind?

    1. You won’t even get it lol

    2. Verizon is garbage, but these people aren’t so it’s a non-issue:

But again I must ask, why can Apple update all their Verizon iPhones, even the new one with (gasp!) LTE, in a timely manor but Google can’t.

      1. Apple has a bigger penis when it comes to those sort of things

        1. It’s not the size of Apple’s penis, it’s how they use it.

          1. lol that’s only what people with small penises say

          2. Exactly.

          3. lol

    3. One behind Sprint and two behind the unlocked model. Behind Sprint is one to be embarrassed about. This is why Google shunned the CDMA carriers for the Nexus 4.

  3. Damn… Need the changelog!

  4. The Nexus 4 probably won’t be getting this update as the A2DP issues only occur on the 7 & 10.

    1. But I heard that this version will fix the camera issues where the shutter button stops working until you reboot.

      1. YES !!!!! that has happened to me ! i am super happy for a fix !

      2. Really? I’ve never had this happen, or never heard about it until now.

      3. I’ve also experienced this. Thought I was going mad. Simply couldn’t get the phone to take a photo until, as you say, it had been rebooted. Three photos later it happened again. Seems to happen in low-light situations. However, I’ve just checked for an update and it says 4.2.1 is the current version.

  5. oh thank goodness. I was so sick of my amazing nexus 7’s bluetooth streaming(while the screen was off) being so unsuable and choppy.

  6. Still not showing up on my N7. I’ll keep on checking…

  7. Why won’t my n7 pull it yet! Ahh! Lol

  8. Here is the trick to get your Update.

Go to Setting>APPS>ALL APPS>GOOGLE FRAME SERVICES FRAMEWORK

    FORCE STOP and CLEAR DATA/CACHE

    1. Do NOT clear data. It will break your connection to Google play on that device and you’ll have to remove and re-add the account.

      1. No it doesn’t.

      2. WRONG!!! But, either way this method is not working and hasn’t worked for the last 2 months. GNex still waiting….

  9. No Nexus 4 update yet, Chris.

  10. And finally, after two years, my Motorola wifi Xoom is sad… this is the first update that it will not be receiving. Ahh, it’s been a good run!

    1. Unlocking the xoom KS trivial and Cyanogen supports it. That’s been my fallback.

      1. Might be time to finally root “my precious”

  11. I hope the update fixes the bug that makes my phone vibrate everytime I receive an email in the email app (not gmail app…the yellow one) on my GSM Galaxy Nexus. It doesn’t matter that it is set to vibrate – never, it still vibrates. It’s not the end of the world, but is annoying.

  12. Considering 4.2.1 basically broke Bluetooth, I hope Sprint turns this around faster
