Amazon Kindle Scribe
The Kindle Scribe is aiming to be an all-in-one product. A research tool, e-reader, and notebook all in one. On the surface, if you don’t know much about the original Kindle Scribe this new version might seem like much of the same. And I can’t blame you! On the surface it is. It has the same starting storage and battery life as the old one. However, like with any second-generation product there as some refinements that can really make this product stand out from its predecessor.
Redesigned from the ground up
It’s been re-engineered so that the front display is now easier to write on and has more flattering white borders around the edges. This should make the effort of putting pen to paper a little easier this time around. It also comes with the Premium Pen and that itself has been re-engineered too. The Pen now has a side button as well as a soft top that can be flipped around like a pencil with an eraser to erase your mistakes. It magnetically charges to the side of the Kindle Scribe much like how an Apple Pencil does with an iPad Air.
When it comes to taking notes there are now different ways to do it. There is a dedicated notebook app that you can use as your own digital notepad. But it’s in books where this feature gets really interesting. This is known as Active Canvas and allows you to annotate your books on the fly. This is perfect for people who are actively reading for research, or just those who love to jot down their feelings on the fly!
As you come across the bits you like, the text box appears allowing you to keep your notes where you found them.
AI Companionship
Do you think you can get away with not having AI in your Kindle? Not a chance! Using your notes feature you can now as your Kindle to summarise your handwritten notes for you.
This could be useful if you have a lot of work thoughts you want to get down or if you’re actively taking notes in a meeting. Not a lot has been said about where your information gets sent to and how it’s stored. So if you value your privacy, you may want to keep your private notes to yourself.
Needless to say, if this tickles your fancy, you can find this for preorder at Amazon on the 4th of December for $399.99

Kindle Paperwhite
The new Kindle Paperwhite for 2024 is more of an iterative update than anything as dramatic as the previous Kindles. It has a brighter front light, which is 25% brighter than last year’s Kindle. It also has a higher contrast ratio and faster page turning. The front light also now has a dedicated slider to adjust the brightness to how you like it. Its battery also has some minor improvements with 12 weeks of screen time. It has met in the middle between its previous iterations, which offered only 8 or 32 GB of storage with 16GB.
If you’re interested in finding out more about the new Kindle Paperwhite it’s available for now for $159.99

Kindle
New Kindle owners be glad to know that the Kindle is now more environmentally friendly. The Kindle is made with 75% recycled plastics, 90% recycled magnesium, and Amazon’s usual 100% recyclable device packaging. Due to this, it’s actually lighter than its predecessor. So if that’s important to you for accessibility reasons for long reading sessions this is something worth considering. However, it comes with none of the fancy backlights that the Kindle Paperwhite possesses. It is your basic Kindle format with 6 weeks of stellar battery life. It’s also the cheapest in the lineup!
