The problem with most foldable phones is that due to the aspect ratio, they’re not really like tablets. They do offer a larger screen, but it’s not exactly the same experience. We expect that will change with the launch of the new Huawei Mate XT, a foldable phone that has a triple display!
Huawei recently confirmed their plans to launch the device, and it looks like it is finally here. The Huawei Mate XT packs a triple display, which when unveiled unfolds to 7.6-inches. Each display uses an LTPO OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. When folded close, its cover display measures 6.4-inches.
Overall, it’s not a particularly huge device, which is good for those who prioritize portability. Huawei did not mention what chipset powers the handset, but there’s a good chance it could be one of Huawei’s Kirin 9 chipsets. It comes with 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage. On the camera side of things, the Mate XT packs a 50MP main, a 12MP ultrawide, a 12MP telephoto, and an 8MP selfie.
The Mate XT is powered by a 5,600mAh battery with support for 66W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. It also runs on Huawei’s very own HarmonyOS 4.2. In terms of prices, like we said before, it probably won’t come cheap, and it doesn’t. The handset is priced starting at CNY19,999, which when converted is roughly $2,811. Ouch.
