Samsung recently launched a bunch of new products. This includes the new Galaxy Buds 3 series and the Galaxy Watch Ultra. Right off the bat, it’s not hard to make comparisons between these devices and other devices like the Apple AirPods and the Apple Watch Ultra, and it seems that even Samsung’s chief isn’t too happy about this.
According to a report from Ajunews, Samsung Electronics Chairman Jay Y. Lee is pretty mad over the design language of the new products. So much so that he has reportedly ordered Samsung’s mobile division, Samsung MX, to “re-examine management”.
This comes after the launch of the new products, where reporters who attended the launch in South Korea were overheard making continuous comparisons to Apple. The report also claims that when they went to visit Samsung’s, employees were also quick to draw comparisons to devices like the Apple Watch.
This isn’t the first time Samsung has been accused of “copying” Apple. It is one of the reasons why both companies were embroiled in a protracted legal battle years ago. That being said, this time round Samsung isn’t even being very subtle about it. The Galaxy Watch Ultra’s name itself seems to be a direct reference to the Apple Watch Ultra.
The orange color band and the design of the band itself also seems very similar to the Apple Watch Ultra. The watch itself is also reminiscent of Apple’s smartwatch, to the square-ish design and even the orange accents.
