The Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 could be powered by MediaTek

Samsung has confirmed that they are planning on launching the Galaxy Tab S10 series by the end of the year. What they did not confirm are the chipsets that will be used to power the tablets. Now according to a report from SamMobile, it looks like MediaTek will be the chipset of choice for the Galaxy Tab S10 series.

This is based on a recent Geekbench listing for the Galaxy Tab S10+. According to the listing, it mentions the use of a chipset with the model number GTS10U. This suggests that the chipset in the Galaxy Tab S10+ will be the MediaTek Dimensity 9300+, and it is speculated that it could apply to the entire lineup.

Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S-series of tablets have typically used Qualcomm’s chipsets. For example, last year’s Galaxy Tab S9 series are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. The Galaxy Tab S9 FE is the only exception as is powered by a Samsung Exynos chipset.

That being said, maybe we shouldn’t be too surprised. MediaTek’s chipsets have been gaining attention in recent years thanks to their performance which is seemingly on par with Qualcomm’s. Plus, with Qualcomm’s prices going up every year, perhaps Samsung is seeking a more affordable alternative.
