Be Prepared for Another Spotify Price Hike

Spotify’s been under a lot of fire lately – after criticism surrounding its refund policy for the now-discontinued Car Thing accessory, the online music platform is once again facing raised eyebrows due to a planned price hike for its premium-tier subscription plans.

Earlier today, Spotify announced that North American subscribers will have to pay a bit more, yet again – this marks the second time that Spotify has raised its subscription prices within the same year, much to the ire of users. With that said, prices will go up to $10.99 for the Premium Individual tier, $14.99 for Premium Duo, $16.99 for Premium Family, and $5.99 for Premium Student.

Spotify’s official announcement gives a bit of justification for the price hike, although we can’t say that many will be happy with the news. Part of the post reads:

The market landscape has continued to evolve since we launched. So that we can keep innovating, we are changing our Premium prices across a number of markets around the world. These updates will help us continue to deliver value to fans and artists on our platform.
