The upcoming Samsung foldables will only use Qualcomm chipsets
Last year, Samsung went all in on Qualcomm with its flagship phones. This year, the company pivoted and went back to the mix of Exynos and Qualcomm chipsets for its Galaxy S24 smartphones. We’re sure some are wondering will it be the same for the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6? Thankfully, a recent report suggests that Samsung will be exclusively using Qualcomm for its 2024 foldables.
This is according to a report from Korean publication The Elec who claims that for the 2024 foldables, Samsung will be using the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipsets across the board. This is great news for regions that got the Exynos version of the Galaxy S24 phones.
Samsung’s Exynos chipsets have not been particularly well-received. The issue is the fact that there is a difference in performance and battery life compared to Qualcomm’s chipsets. Also, given that customers are paying the same price and don’t have a say in the matter has rubbed many the wrong way.
Samsung opting to go all in with Qualcomm for its next-gen foldables should level the playing field somewhat. Obviously none of this can be confirmed at the moment so take it with a grain of salt. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 are expected to be announced in July 2024. Check back with us then for updates!
