Samsung’s smartwatches aren’t that expensive. They’re not cheap, that’s for sure, but we wouldn’t really call them super expensive either. But in a bid to maybe court more users into its ecosystem, a report from Android Headlines claims that a cheaper Galaxy Watch FE could be in the works.
Now, there is a bit of conflicting information here. Android Headlines claims that the device is called the Galaxy Watch FE. A post on X by Max Jambor claims that it will instead be a re-release of the Galaxy Watch 4 that was originally released back in 2021. Android Authority clarified this tweet with Jambor who claims that the 2024 Galaxy Watch 4 is basically the “FE” model, just not in name.
All this seems to suggest that this alleged Galaxy Watch FE will be based on the Galaxy Watch 4, but exactly what it will be known as remains to be seen. It’s not a bad idea for Samsung to re-release the smartwatch. Apple has done something similar with the Apple Watch SE. They have also kept older models around as a cheaper alternative to their flagship models.
Either way, only time will tell how this rumor pans out. Samsung is rumored to be launching the Galaxy Watch 7 possibly this July (or later), so maybe we’ll have more details then.
