The Pixel 8a Might Get Battery Improvements, Leak Claims

Another day, another Pixel leak – Google’s up-and-coming midrange smartphone is expected to come with significant improvements to battery, and might even come with faster 27W fast charging this time around, at least according to a spec sheet listed online.

Posting on Twitter/X, tech tipster Yogesh Brar claims that the Pixel 8a will likely come with improved charging speeds, especially when compared to last year’s Pixel 7a which featured a much slower 18W charging speed. The post also shares previous Pixel 8a specs, which were leaked in the past few months. For context, the flagship Pixel 8 model also features 27W wired charging.

This includes the speculated 120Hz refresh rate, an option for a larger 256GB storage variant, as well as the same camera setup found on the Pixel 7a. As for design, the 8a will come with a rounded form factor, more similar to the Pixel 8 series devices. It’s also predicted that the handset will be more expensive, although no specific pricing was mentioned other than an estimate between 500-550 USD.

More recently, a supposed Google ad showing the Pixel 8a has been making rounds, after being spotted online via a YouTube video. The post shows a screenshot of an ad for Google Fi, which shows the Pixel 8a in blue and white colorways, alongside details on Google Fi deals. The phone in the ad resembles what we’ve seen on early leaks, especially with the slightly smaller camera window, as well as the flatter camera bar.
