Nubia debuts the Flip 5G foldable phone with a wallet-friendly price

One of the main reasons why foldables haven’t become the new standard of phones is largely due to price. With handsets like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 commanding price tags close to $2,000, these are phones clearly not designed for the masses. But if you want a foldable that’s affordable, then the newly-announced Nubia Flip 5G could be it.

The Nubia Flip 5G is the first flip foldable phone for the company. One of the selling points would be its price, where it will be sold around $599. Granted it’s not exactly what we would call a “budget” phone, but comparing it against the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 or the Motorola Razr 40, it is pretty cheap.

So, what will you get for $599? The Nubia Flip 5G is a clamshell foldable phone with a 6.9-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. According to Nubia, the handset’s display is rated for about 200,000 folds. Under the hood, you won’t find flagship performance. Instead, you’ll be getting a mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset. It will be accompanied by 6-8GB of RAM, and 128-256GB of storage.

The handset comes with a dual camera setup consisting of 50MP cameras, along with a 16MP front-facing shooter. The phone will pack a 4,310mAh battery with 33W charging. Nubia did not mention when the phone will become available, but it might be worth keeping an eye out for if you want a foldable phone that’s easy on the wallet.
