Google Assistant headphones could be getting Gemini support

0

Google is slowly starting to introduce its Gemini AI to more devices and services. This is why it doesn’t come as a surprise to learn that in the future, headphones with Google Assistant integration could gain Gemini support as well. This is according to an APK teardown done by the folks at 9to5Google.

The teardown reveals a string that suggested that the recently launched Gemini app will expand to cover headphones. In case you didn’t know, there are some headphones out there that are integrated with Google Assistant, like the Pixel Buds series.

For the most part it is an extension of Google Assistant, but Gemini support could really enhance the overall experience. Presumably this will introduce generative AI capabilities to these headphones. Users will be able to ask questions in natural language and get better answers compared to what Google Assistant currently generates.

There is no mention of whether or not it will come to smart speakers or smart displays. It’s not a stretch to think it could be a possibility in the future. Gemini for Google Assistant headphones isn’t supported yet. As 9to5Google notes, the Pixel Buds Pro still uses Google Assistant when prompted. There’s no word on availability so we’ll just have to wait.
