Xiaomi 14 Ultra could be offered in a titanium option

0

Towards the end of 2023, Xiaomi became the first smartphone maker in the world to launch a smartphone using the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. The Xiaomi 14 is offered in a base and Pro option, but there have been rumors that the company could also be planning to launch an Ultra variant as well.

Now according to a report from 91mobiles, it appears that the Xiaomi 14 Ultra could borrow a design feature from Samsung. The report claims that Xiaomi could offer a titanium option for the Ultra version of the phone. This will be offered alongside a regular Ultra model that uses aluminum.

Phone makers like Apple and Samsung have recently adopted the use of titanium in their higher-end models. The use of titanium will result in a phone that’s more durable and also lighter. As 91mobiles points out, newer and larger camera systems can add a bit of heft to the phone’s weight. Using titanium can help offset some of that weight to make the phone lighter.

How will the Ultra will differ from the base Xiaomi 14 and Pro models? The rumors are claiming a higher display refresh rate of 144Hz instead of 120Hz. It will also feature a different camera sensor and will reportedly use the Leica Summilux f/1.42 lens. Take it with a grain of salt, but hopefully we’ll have more details come MWC 2024.
