It’s been a while since we’ve seen a new Pixel 8a leak, although after a bit of silence online, it looks like Google’s upcoming midrange smartphone has stirred things up again. New images showcasing the handset’s supposed retail packaging have leaked online, confirming early design leaks and renders.
Originally posted via X/Twitter, the images showcase the front and sides of the Pixel 8a retail box, which supposedly come from a source based in Vietnam. The image of the handset on the box does confirm early design leaks, which include the phone’s round profile, as well as a slimmer camera bar on the device’s rear panel.
Previously, digital image renders and supposed hands-on photos of the Pixel 8a itself made rounds online, in addition to a Geekbench listing that details some of the specs inside the phone. Referred to as “Google Akita” in the Geekbench listing, the device comes with an underclocked Tensor G3 chipset, and managed to score 1218 for single-core performance, and 3175 for multi-core performance. The listing also reveals 8GB of RAM inside.
In any case, it will be some time before Google reveals more details about the Pixel 8a, although we could probably expect more leaks until then as well.
