Galaxy S24 AI features might not make it to older Samsung phones

Samsung has all but confirmed that the Galaxy S24 series will come with new AI experiences. If you were hoping that these features could trickle down to older Galaxy phones in a future update, you might want to temper those expectations.

According to their sources, SamMobile suggests that older Samsung phones may not receive all the AI features of the Galaxy S24. In fact, the vast majority of Samsung phones may not even get them. The publication has heard that Samsung is only planning to bring some features to the Galaxy S23 series and the Galaxy Z Fold and Flip 5 phones.

This does not completely rule out the possibility that other phones won’t get it, but like we said, don’t hold your breath. It is possible that there could be hardware related limitations which is why older devices may not get these AI features. When the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset was announced, the company introduced new hardware features enabling improved AI processing.

However, the question remains about the Exynos 2400 rumored to power variants of the Galaxy S24 and how it compares to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. We will have the answers soon enough as Samsung has confirmed their next Galaxy Unpacked event will take place on the 17th of January.
