Lenovo is a well-established brand when it comes to consumer PCs. If you’re looking for a gaming PC, you might be interested to learn that at CES 2024, the company has announced their brand new lineup of Lenovo Legion gaming desktops and laptops.

Legion 9i Gen 9

Those in search of the ultimate gaming laptop might consider the Legion 9i Gen 9 their top choice. It boasts the capability to configure with an Intel Core i9-14900HX CPU and provides GPU options of up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 with 16GB of GDDR6 RAM. The RAM options are equally impressive, reaching up to a staggering 64GB of 5600MHz DDR5 RAM.

The Legion 9i’s display stands out as well, featuring a 16-inch screen with a 3.2k resolution, reaching a peak brightness of 1,200 nits. It supports Dolby Vision, NVIDIA G-Sync, or AMD Freesync and boasts a 165Hz refresh rate with a 3ms response time.

Among its unique features is the utilization of the Lenovo LA3-P AI chip, enabling functions like Scenario Detection. This empowers the laptop to adapt its CPU and GPU power based on your tasks. Additionally, it offers the novel Lighting Audio Sync feature, synchronizing the laptop’s RGB lights with your game’s sound for an even more immersive experience.

The Lenovo Legion gaming laptop will be priced starting at $4,399 and will be available this month.

Legion Pro 7i & Pro 5i Gen 9

If the Legion 9i’s price exceeds your budget, consider the Legion Pro series as an excellent second option. Both the 7i and 5i models offer configurations with the Intel Core i9-14900HX CPU. The difference lies in the GPU options. The 7i allows configuration with the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090, while the 5i is limited to the RTX 4070.

The displays on both laptops are also pretty awesome if you value high refresh rates. They both feature 16-inch WQXGA displays with a 240Hz refresh rate and a 3ms response time. They also support Dolby Vision, NVIDIA G-Sync, and have a peak brightness of 500 nits.

The battery life is also where the laptops differ. The Legion Pro 7i has a larger 99.99WHr battery, while the Legion Pro 5i has a slightly smaller 80WHr battery.

Lenovo has also equipped both laptops with its Coldfront cooling technology. This allows the GPU on both laptops to max out, so if you need to push the boundaries when it comes to gaming, video processing, or rendering, it can.

The Legion Pro 7i will start at a price of $2,699 and will hit the market in March. Meanwhile, the Legion Pro 5i will come in slightly cheaper at $1,499 and will be available later this month.

Legion 7i & 5i Gen 9

To save even more money, consider opting for the Legion 7i and 5i. Don’t mistake their affordability for lack of power—they’re still incredibly capable laptops. Configuration options include the Intel Core i9-14900HX CPU and the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 GPU, although the VRAM is limited to 8GB.

The RAM options for the Legion 7i and 5i are limited to a maximum of 32GB, which should be sufficient for most. Both laptops offer 16-inch 3.2k displays, with the Legion 5i specifically featuring a WQXGA 240Hz refresh rate. The Legion 7i starts with a base display of 165Hz but allows configuration for a 240Hz refresh rate, though this results in a resolution drop from 3.2k to WQXGA.

Both laptops will also take advantage of Levono’s Coldfront: Hyper thermal technology. This cooling system will take the hot air from the chips and channel it through a hyperbaric chamber. Lenovo claims the use of this cooling system will allow the laptops to max out at 175W for the Legion 7i, and 190W for the Legion 5i.

The Lenovo Legion 7i will be priced starting at $2,099 and will be available in March. The Legion 5i will retail starting at $1,399 and will be available this April.

Legion Tower 7i

For gamers always on the move, gaming on-the-go proves fantastic. However, for those who lean towards gaming at home, the Legion Tower 7i might present a better alternative. This desktop gaming PC allows configurations with Intel Core 14th Gen i9-14900K processors, offering up to 64GB of 5600MHz DDR5 RAM. Storage options reach an impressive 6TB of PCIe NVMe SSD. Users can also select from the latest NVIDIA GeForce RTX desktop GPUs for their GPU needs.

Pricing for the Lenovo Legion gaming desktop will start at $2,699 and will be available for purchase in April.
